Volta Medical became the first HealthTech company to integrate AI software in US hospitals to treat patients. The AI software will be integrated at three hospitals in US. The hospitals namely Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital, and New York Presbyterian Queens are the hospitals to integrate the AI ablation software to treat patient.
Both the branches of Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital, one based in Jacksonville and New York will get the AI software. The AI ablation software named VX1 is uniquely designed to enhance health outcomes for patients undergoing atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation procedures. The hospitals are also recruiting AF ablation patients to participate in the clinical trial studies to evaluate the actual outcomes of the AI software. The outcomes of VX1 will be compared to standard ablation.
Volta has initiated the international level, randomised controlled clinical trial to evaluate VX1’s effectiveness against the conventional anatomical ablation procedures. The trial will involve a number of patients and 25 sites. The results of the trail are expected to be released by 2024.
